So, if that happens you're going to have to do it from scratch and type the little 1, a slash, and a little 2 and adjust your Baseline Shift so that it looks like a little fraction instead of eleven slash 2. Now if you change your font or if you're using a font, a kind of wonky font from the internet like we all do, um, you can see that it did change the font but that one half stayed the same - it stayed the one half in the other font, and if you look over here in Glyphs - Type > Glyphs, there are no alternates for that font because it was not designed that way. So all you do is double click on the one that you want - here's the one half - and it changes it for you to that nice tight little one half fraction that you can use in your layout. So you have to search through here until you find it and it's usually about here for the fonts that have a lot of alternates and you can see here there's a one fourth, one half and three quarters. And what that's going to do is show you all of the alternate characters that exist for that font that you're using. When youre done, select all of the glyphs you want in the font and then. So what you do is just type what you want, highlight that fraction - that 1 slash 2, go up to Type > Glyphs. Since Im using Powerpoint v16 on the Mac, embedded fonts are not allowed.
You would type out "Use 1 and 1 slash 2 cups of flour." And that's great, but it looks like 11 slash 2 - we want to make it look cute like a little fraction with a higher 1 and a lower 2. So what I usually do - say if you're typing out a recipe card or something.

Depending on your Mac model, you may also be able to use the fn key to invoke the viewer. To display the viewer you can either press Command+Control+Spacebar or choose Edit > Emojis and Symbols in most apps.
